Emily Clarkson from Brownwood, TX was awarded First Place in the General Training category. She is a student at Ball State University having achieved a long list of awards and accomplishments with piano, violin, organ and harp. Her teacher, Elizabeth Richter, affirms her dedication to perfecting her art and to sharing her love of music. Her dream is to become a professional harpist.

Michaela (Kayla) Lutz from New Brighton, PA won the Second Place General Training award. She and her Mom "put together" her first harp named Rose. Having studied almost four years, she has played numerous times in hospitals, nursing homes and a local tea room where she often played her own compositions. In addition, she won first place in the Ligonier Scottish Games harp competition two consecutive years and a scholarship to attend the Ohio Scottish Arts School. Her teacher, Allison Miller, was a two time recipient of the Jan Pennington Gray scholarship. Kudos to a 13 year old.

Justine Flynn from Portland, OR placed First in the Harp Therapy category. She achieved a professional level as a French Hornist before committing to her intention to become a Certified Music-Thanatologist, serving the needs of the dying and their loved ones through music. Her training covers the gamut from classical to jazz, rock and experimantal music. Her teacher, Suzanne Cerddeu at Lane Community College, recommends her as, "an excellent student in all areas, academically, musically and spiritually". She will use the scholarship to continue her harp training which is a requirement for certification.

Lisa Marie Patterson from Goodlettsville, TN is the Second Place winner in the Harp Therapy category. She submitted to the judges evidence of being worthy of this award. Her application states: "I believe that music, especially harp music, has the power to inspire the human mind to rally it’s own resources for healing and personal growth and to inspire the mind to gently release the body at the time of transition. I am passionalely interested in being able to utilize my abilities as a harpist and as a healer in a way that is so beneficial and uplifting to others. I would like to use this scholarship to apply to my tuition in the International Harp Therapy Program".

Dr. David Babulski from Snellville, GA was awarded the scholarship to attend the 2011 Harp Camp which will be July 26 – 31. David began his musical experience with the accordion and longed to play the harp for many years before he found a harp and a teacher, Kelly Stewart Brzozowski. He has worked diligently to make up for time spent raising a family and caring for his wife, Karen, who is now a resident of the New London Health Nursing Home. His desire to "immerse himself in the study of the harp will be a fun but intensive way to build the level of both skill and confidence".
