Why is there a Jan Pennington Gray Harp Scholarship Fund?
Not so very long ago, there lived a young woman with a joy for living
and a talent for music. She worked hard to develop her musical skills,
focusing her efforts on the harp she loved so much. She planted an herb
garden, carefully planning its arrangement for beauty as well as functionality.
She met and married the love of her life. And then, suddenly, she was
gone. No one knows why these things happen, but we cannot let a life who
meant so much to so many go silently into the darkness. We must remember
her, and all the beautiful things in life that she loved so dearly. She
has left quite a legacy for us... What is the Jan Pennington Gray Harp Scholarship Fund?
Jan's family has chosen to remember her through this fund. They work
each week to increase awareness of the many ways in which a harp, and
a harpist, can touch a life. They seek to encourage those harpists who
strive for the same goals that Jan did in her life.
Four scholarships are offered to harpists who are in need of assistance
with their pursuit of achieving a more advanced level of accomplishment
in the field of performance and service to others. One of the scholarships
is designated for enrollment in a harp therapy program. Who is eligible to receive this scholarship?
Eligible harpists are those in need of assistance who are enrolled in
the International Harp
Therapy Program or a different harp therapy program of their choosing,
as well as other programs that advance their levels of performance and
service. An additional scholarship is available for a returning Harp Camp
attendee. The application asks the reason for applying as well as the
intended use of the scholarship. How do I apply for this scholarship?
